The law firm of Brown Rountree PC announces the addition of Lori E. Welch. Welch is a trial attorney with a knowledge of criminal defense, DUI defense and family law.  

She graduated Cum Laude from South Carolina's Honors College in 2005 and excelled as a computer software consultant for four years, prior to attending the Walter F. George Mercer School of Law in 2009. While in law school, Welch served on Mercer's Advocacy Council, actively competed in and coached the Mercer Law Mock Trial team, worked as a legal intern for the Georgia Secretary of State Professional Licensing Board and served as law clerk for the Superior Court of Houston County.  

Welch began trying cases at the Macon Circuit Public Defenders Office under Georgia's Third Year Practice Act. 

She also successfully completed Mercer Law School's Advanced Legal Writing Program and chaired Joshua's Wish, a philanthropy funding pediatric brain tumor research. 

During the course of her law practice, Welch has continued to build upon her foundation in trial practice, graduating from Gerry Spence's Trial Lawyers College in July 2014 and securing an acquittal in a multi-defendant murder case.  

Welch is past president of the Effingham County Bar Association, a member of the Bulloch County Bar Association, and an active member of her church, Statesboro First United Methodist. 

She is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Georgia, Court of Appeals of Georgia and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Georgia.

She is married to John Ashley Welch, the current senior staff attorney for the Ogeechee Judicial Circuit and they have one child, Noah.
