Orchid Restaurant is one of Statesboro’s most magical restaurants. Owner Mai Lan Nguyen has created a casual elegance with Orchid combined with some of the most delicious Asian-influenced dishes in Statesboro.
Orchid is celebrating class of 2018 graduates who are employed by Orchid: Pictured left to right: Joshua Willoughby (SHS), Russell Culpepper (GSU), Cassidy McCrea (GSU), Shaylin Lach (SHS), Margaret Kochetta (not pictured – SEB) and Landon Dellinger (not pictured - SEB).
"I would like to congratulate each of these graduates who have worked very hard serving our customers at Orchid. We know each of them have a very bright future ahead” said Mai Lan Nguyen, owner. “Because of our customers support, Orchid contributes back to our community in many ways. One important way is by providing jobs and resources for our employees. I am thankful for all of our hardworking employees, especially these high school graduates who are dedicated to their job and making every visit to Orchid special for you."
Orchid has added new low-calorie dishes which are gluten-free. Two of the signature dishes include a salmon dish and the poke bowl, perfect for sushi lovers. All of the entrees at Orchid have a Vietnamese, Korean and Japanese influence. Most of the dishes have been “Americanized”.
One of the most popular entrees is the Pineapple Chicken. The entrée includes rice, chicken and vegetables that are served in an actual pineapple that is cut in half and hollowed out. The pineapple portion is cubed up and served on a plate with the dish. Instead of cooking the pineapple, it is served on the side.
Pho, Vietnamese noodles, are another popular entree. They contain rice noodles with either beef, chicken or shrimp broth and like many of their dishes are gluten free.
Orchid has one of Statesboro’s largest Sushi selections prepared by Gary Holloway. Orchid boasts over 30 selections, including Sashimi Deluxe. Half of the Sushi on their menu is cooked. One of the most popular sushi rolls was created at Orchid just for Statesboro and is called the Georgia Roll. It is a great way for non-sushi eaters to get introduced to Sushi. The Georgia Roll contains fried shrimp wrapped with rice and topped with shredded crab, tempura flakes and creamy sauce. It is heavenly!!
With popular lunch specials like the Bento, which includes one Sushi roll, vegetables, rice and chicken for only $8.00, it is no surprise Orchid customers keep voting them as one of the Best Restaurants in the ‘Boro.
Orchid is locally owned. Mai Lan, her daughter Jenny and son Tommy are very involved in the restaurant daily. Visit them soon and you will also discover why their customers love them so much.
