A woman shot in the face Sunday morning remains in fair condition and police still seek the person responsible. Statesboro Police officers responded around 3 a.m. Sunday to Morris Heights Apartments, building 6, where Latoya Hamilton, 27, was found “inside her apartment with a single gunshot wound to the face,” said Statesboro Public Safety Director Wendell Turner. Hamilton told detectives she “opened her door after someone knocked on it” and upon opening the door “she was shot in the face by an unknown person,” he said.
