Police arrested a woman Friday on child abuse charges after two calls in one month to her home.
Officers were called to a Jones Mill Road residence Nov. 7 regarding a woman "locking a 7-year-old boy outside in 56-degree weather, in the rain," said Statesboro police Community Information Specialist Madison Warren.
The woman, Breasjia Shante McCoy, 27, was not charged then, but officers turned the case over to the Bulloch County Department of Family and Children Services, she said.
Police returned to the home Friday, Nov. 30, and found that McCoy reportedly left the 7-year-old boy alone in the home, Warren said.
Officers charged McCoy with first-degree cruelty to children and took her to the Bulloch County Jail, where she faced further court hearings.
The child was turned over to a DFCS-approved neighboring home, she said. He was uninjured.
