The Gardens Senior Living names Malphrus Health Services director
Alan Skipper, co-owner of The Gardens Senior Living, announced that Shelli Malphrus was hired as the director of Health Services.
Malphrus previously worked at Ogeechee Area Hospice in both inpatient and home care services for 12 years. Prior to that, she worked as the assistant director of Nursing at Heritage Inn and at East Georgia Regional Hospital, where she worked in the emergency room and pain management departments.
Skipper said, “We feel fortunate to have her on our team. Her broad experience in geriatric care and her commitment to excellence in patient care fits perfectly with our mission and values.”
Malphrus will manage the care of residents and serve as the liaison between residents and their physicians. She will also oversee the resident care assistants to ensure each resident receives exemplary care.
A resident of Statesboro since 1990, Malphrus received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1995 from Georgia Southern University. She is also a certified Hospice Palliative Care Nurse. She is married to Matt and has two children.
Wiggins earns Sea Island promotion
Synovus/Sea Island Bank announced that Chris Wiggins was promoted to retail market manager. His responsibilities include small business banking and overall business development, as well as oversight of the office at 600 Fair Road in Statesboro, where he is located.
Wiggins joined Synovus/Sea Island Bank in February 2008 and served as senior relationship banker before his promotion.
He is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Statesboro, Statesboro Jaycees, Leadership Bulloch Class of 2018, and Co-Chair of the Bulloch County Relay for Life Event 2017 & 2018.
Wiggins is a graduate of Georgia Southern University and was a member of The Herald’s 20 Under 40 class of 2017.
