An appropriate honor for Judge Edenfield

Editor: On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I would like to congratulate and thank Atlanta attorney Allen W. Yee and the University of Georgia School of Law for establishing the B. Avant Edenfield Jurist in Residence program, honoring the late U.S. District Court judge who died earlier this year. This prestigious honor is well deserved by Judge Edenfield, a Georgia Law alumnus whose distinguished career in the legal profession and justice system included practicing law in his hometown of Statesboro, and serving in the Georgia State Senate prior to his 28 years of active service on the U.S. District Court bench for the Southern District of Georgia and eight additional years a senior judge. The Edenfield Jurist in Residence program was made possible by a generous gift from Mr. Yee, a senior attorney with the Coca-Cola Company, who was a law clerk under Judge Edenfield after his graduation from Georgia Law in 2003.
