King continues discharge into Ogeechee River
Lack of response from state 'frustrating'

Ogeechee Riverkeeper Dianna Wedincamp investigates discharge from King America Finishing plant discharge pipe on the Ogeechee River Saturday.
Dark, blue-black liquid bubbled up from the discharge pipe near a local textiles treatment plant Saturday, staining the sediment, banks and waters of the Ogeechee River. It’s nothing new, but after 33,000 fish died in the Ogeechee River in May, concerned citizens and Ogeechee Riverkeeper Dianna Wedincamp want the King America Finishing discharge stopped. Wedincamp and a small group of citizens visited the site Saturday after receiving a citizen’s complaint about the plant’s effluent — wastewater containing chemicals and ingredients used in the textiles treatment process — still polluting the river.
