Georgia Southern University President Brooks Keel, center, greets family members of the five nursing students killed in a crash on I-16 during their memorial service on April 23.
It’s been a little more than a week since the tragic accident on Interstate 16 cut the lives of five nursing students from Georgia Southern University far too short. The healing process from the horrific events of April 22 is in the beginning stages across the campus, and, indeed, across the entire community. Dr. Brooks Keel, who has been president of Georgia Southern since 2010, sat down for an interview with the Statesboro Herald to offer his thoughts a week after the loss of Caitlyn Baggett, Morgan Bass, Emily Clark, Abbie DeLoach and McKay Pittman and how the university is moving forward.
