A man who touched an 8-year-old girl inappropriately and made suggestive sexual remarks to her in front of witnesses is behind bars without bond, and could be deported if officials discover he is in  the country illegally, investigators said.
Alberto Lopez Hernandez, 19, Teal Circle, originally gave Bulloch County Sheriff’s deputies a false name, “Antonio Vasquez,” said Bulloch County Sheriff’s Chief Investigator Capt. Todd Hutchens.
Hernandez is charged with public intoxication, obstruction of an officer, and simple battery as well as contributing to the delinquency of a minor, enticing a child for indecent purposes, sexual battery and child molestation, he said.
Bulloch County Sheriff’s Deputy Ross Newman was called to Cedarwood Acres Mobile Home Park Thursday, where Hernandez was visiting friends. While there, Hernandez, highly intoxicated, accosted an 8-year-old girl and “touched her inappropriately in the presence of witnesses, and made inappropriate statements of a sexual manner,” Hutchens said.
When someone called law enforcement, Hernandez fled. In his flight to evade deputies, he struck a 25-year-old female with a door, he said.
Newman located Hernandez about an hour later, and charged him with public intoxication, obstruction of an officer, and simple battery. Then he turned the case over to Bulloch County Sheriff’s Inv. Jared Akins, who questioned the witnesses and charged Hernandez with contributing to the delinquency of a minor, enticing a child for indecent purposes, sexual battery and child molestation, Hutchens said.
Hernandez is being held without bond in the Bulloch County Jail, awaiting court proceedings regarding the charges, he said. But the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) also has a hold on Hernandez, and officials will determine whether he is in  the country illegally, he said.
If he is found to be an illegal alien, Hernandez will be deported and penalized by ICE after disposition of the Bulloch County case, he said.
