Investigation of Statesboro City Council begins
City of Statesboro seal
The investigation ordered by Statesboro City Council into whether a majority of council members met in potentially illegal private meetings with former City Manager Frank Parker or City Attorney Alvin Leaphart began Tuesday at 11 a.m. In an afternoon phone interview, Municipal Court Judge Keith Barber confirmed that he selected Tom A. Peterson IV, a Vidalia lawyer, to conduct the investigation. "He started this morning doing interviews," Barber said. A graduate of Mercer University's Walter F. George School of Law, Peterson previously served as an assistant district attorney in the Augusta Judicial Circuit.
