In the south, football is a way of life.

Actually watching the game, however, is only part of the experience. The social aspect of tailgating is what many football fans live for. It is the pregame warm-up and the post-game review in the parking lots surrounding Paulson Stadium that make Eagle football so magical. But tailgating in the Boro is work - a lot of work, to do it right.

So, three Georgia Southern entrepreneurial graduates David Kennedy, Patrick Whitledge and Sean Foster recently hatched a business plan to take the work out of tailgating. Their new business - Tailgate Tailors - was an idea that evolved as they moved from experiencing the games as single college students to now married adults with children.

"I grew up in Dalton, Georgia and came to visit Georgia Southern when I was deciding on colleges," Kennedy said. "It happened to be a football weekend and when I stepped into Paulson Stadium, I knew this was home. I had always heard there was something different about GSU and Eagle Football, but I really didn't fully understand it until that game. Paulson is a very magical place and tailgating there is unlike any experience I have ever had."

A wife and three kids later, Kennedy and his partners, who also have families now, discovered how much work there is in tailgating as a family. As a result, they have launched Tailgate Tailors to help others enjoy the best parts of tailgating.

Their base package includes a 10x10 tent, cooler with ice, a six-foot table and five folding chairs. The packages grow in size and they have just about every amenity you can imagine that can be added on. Need a grill, a GSU cornhole game or food? They have you covered. Also, they are working with Papa Buck BBQ for the food catering, which they handle completely, including delivery and set up on your tailgate site.

Kennedy said Tailgate Tailors will create a customized package to meet a customer's specific needs. Some of their clients have GSU themed tents and decoration items, which is no problem.

Tailgate Tailors sets up the tailgate area as early as you like and breaks everything down one hour after the game ends. In addition to taking down the site, they even clean up the space and haul away the trash, Kennedy said.

The goal is to provide their clients with everything they need to have a great tailgate experience and ensure tailgating is much more enjoyable with their services.
