Incumbent Tucker defeats Johnson for Clerk of Court

Incumbent Bulloch County Clerk of Courts Teresa Perkins Tucker will see another term after Bulloch County voters welcomed her back with 63 percent of the vote.Tucker, with more than 30 years of experience in Bulloch County Superior Court, is looking forward to a second term in office."I am pretty much humbled, and thankful for all the support and encouragement," she said. "I'm very grateful for the citizens getting out and voting."Challenger Liz Johnson was not immediately available for comment Tuesday night after the election results were in.Tucker garnered 14,429 votes, while 8,624 voters supported Johnson."It will be back to work as usual, we have to be in court in the morning," Tucker said. "We'll think about (future changes and improvements within the clerk of courts offices) after that."Tucker has worked in the clerk's office since 1979 and has watched the office grow from when everything was "written in books" to records being kept electronically, she said.Johnson, retired after 38 years working in insurance industry, has no political experience but has been a candidate for Georgia House District 157 (2010), Bulloch County Probate Judge (2008), Bulloch County Board of Commissioners (2004); served as Board Of Education Zoning Task Force Socio-Economic Subcommittee co-chairwoman.Holli Deal Bragg may be reached at (912) 489-9414.
