House approves 67 widening

The United States House of Representatives has approved $350.000 for the widening of Highway 67 from Interstate 16 to Veterans Memorial Parkway in Statesboro.
The money was put in the the fiscal year 2008 appropriations bill for the Departments of Transportation and Housing and Urban Development by Congressman John Barrow (D-Savannah).
"Bulloch County is growing by leaps and bounds and it's important that the transportation infrastructure keeps pace," Barrow said. "I drive on Highway 67 almost every time I visit Statesboro and I've sat behind enough slow moving trucks on that road to know that this widening project has been a long time coming."
The bill still needs to be approved by the Senate, though Barrow is confident funding for the project will remain in the bill.
