Herald advertising department wins 19 awards

    The Statesboro Herald’s advertising department won 19 awards at the 2009 Georgia Press Association’s Advertising Contest announced recently.
    “I’m very proud of our staff in both ad sales and ad design,” said Jan Melton, advertising director for the Statesboro Herald. “They all are a talented and hard-working bunch and I’m happy their work was recognized for its quality by their peers.”
    The advertising staff won 10 first place awards in daily division D for the following categories:    
* Best Special Section (Community Pride)
* Best Food Ad (Blue Moon)
* Best Health Care Ad (East Georgia Women’s Center)
* Best Newspaper Promotion (Be First to Know)
* Best Service/ Institutional Ad (Brodie International)
* Best Small Page Ad (Eagle Village)
* Best Real Estate Color (Graystone Townhomes)
* Best Home Furnishings Ad (L.A. Waters)
* Best Signature Page (Fall and Winter Service Guide)
* Best Advertising Campaign (pets and People)
    The staff also won nine second place awards in daily division D for the following categories:
* Best Miscellaneous Ad (Oliver’s General Store)
* Best Apparel, Jewelry & Accessories Ad (Talan’s Shoes)
* Best Food Ad (Buffalo’s)
* Best Newspaper Promotion (Pet Idol)
* Best Special Section (Welcome to the Boro)
* Best Motor Vehicle Ad Color – (Trapnell Dodge)
* Best Service/ Institutional Ad (Southern Pet Sitters)
* Best Full Color (Special Olympics)
* Best Health Care Ad (Brown’s Health)

    Ad designers for the above winners included: Juanita van den Bosch, Lamar Allen, Stephanie Gibson, Lindsay DeLettre, Vanessa Jenkins and Courtney Caldwell. Advertising sales executives for the ads included: Kelly Dailey, Cicely Sikes, Suzanne Tatum, Reagan Daly, Shelby Morris and Lisa Loy.
