Bulloch County EMS, fire and other emergency personnel responded Tuesday around 1:20 p.m. to Interstate 16 near the Ash Branch Church Road exit, where an 18-wheeler and a passenger car collided.

Bulloch County 911 reported the car inhabitants were entrapped and the car was on fire, and Statesboro HazMat teams were called out due to the tanker having a placard indicating it carried sulfuric acid. However, responders arrived to find the tanker empty, and extricated the car passengers while dousing the fire.

The parties involved suffered minor injury, according to reports heard over law enforcement and emergency personnel radio.

Georgia State Patrol reports were incomplete Tuesday and additional details were not immediately available.
