Thursday's guest on the "Mornings unPHILtered" show was Allen Muldrew, the executive director of Statesboro's Downtown Development Authority.

Muldrew told host Phil Boyum about the "Downtown GSU Tailgate Party" that will be Friday beginning at 6 p.m. in the Sea Island Bank parking lot. The event is designed to get Georgia Southern fans pumped and ready for Saturday's 6 p.m. game against Elon at Paulson Stadium.
Muldrew invited students, families, alumni and all community members to bring their lawn chairs, and come dressed for the event sporting their best "blue and white" outfits.

He said the Authority will make the tailgate party a regular event to be Fridays before Georgia Southern home games. There will be food and beverage vendors on hand, as well as plenty of entertainment for the children, including, "the bouncies," Muldrew said.

There will be a live band playing music from the "1980s," while people gather to kick off the weekend. Muldrew said everyone also is welcome to bring their own picnic baskets or even their own grill. No one needs to buy anything in order to participate.

The tailgate party will begin at 6 p.m. and running. Muldrew said shops downtown will be open, too.
Also, Muldrew said the outdoor celebration will feature WTOC's live broadcast of the Georgia Southern Tailgatin' Show from 7:30 to 8 p.m.

Future pregame tailgate celebrations are planned for Oct. 8, Oct. 29 and Nov. 5 in the Sea Island Bank parking lot. Admission is free and open to the public. For more information, call 912-764-7227.

"Mornings unPHILtered" airs live Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on and also simulcast on WWNS-AM 1240 on the radio. You also can listen anytime at on
