A 10-year-old girl was airlifted to a Savannah hospital Saturday after being accidentally struck by a vehicle.

Bulloch County sheriff's deputies, EMS and other responders were called to a Ben Grady Collins Road location around 5:45 p.m. Saturday in response to a report of the injured child.

A 31-year-old woman was backing up and did not see the girl behind the vehicle, said Bulloch County sheriff's Capt. Todd Hutchens.

The vehicle's bumper struck the child, who suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, he said.

The girl was flown by Air Evac to a Savannah hospital, where she was treated and remains in stable condition.

"She is doing much better today," Hutchens said Monday.

There were no charges filed, as the situation was an accident, he said.
