With a flurry of text messages, Facebook posts and lots of heart-to-heart talks, nursing students at Georgia Southern University shared first the uncertainty of who was involved in the deadly accident on Interstate 16, and then comforted each other in dealing with the tragic loss of their friends and colleagues. “Everyone was pretty much in shock,” said Hannah Shambayati, a senior student who received several messages from frantic, concerned friends earlier in the day. She was not aware of the accident until noon, when the messages started pouring in.
