Human remains found Tuesday near Cobbtown are being examined at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab in Savannah.

The Tattnall County Sheriff’s Office responded Tuesday to a call about “ human skeletal remains being located in a wooded area off of Clarence Green Road outside of Cobbtown,” said John Durden, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Region 5 GBI office in Statesboro.

The Tattnall County Sheriff’s Office and GBI agents “excavated the skeletal remains: and took them to the crime lab to try to identify the victim," he said.

Thursday, there was limited information available about the case. Anyone with information is asked to call the Statesboro Region 5 GBI office at 912-871-1121.
