Former Boro resident to speak at ‘God Talks’ event
June Evans, shown here with her ministry partner and husband, Gene, will speak at the God Talks event on Saturday morning. The Evans moved here in 1980 to found New Covenant Church and resided in Statesboro for 10 years.

“God Talks,” a women’s group that meets monthly at New Covenant Church on Gentilly Road for inspirational talks and testimonies, will welcome June Evans as a guest speaker on Saturday at 10 a.m.

Many Statesboro residents will remember Evans as a former community member. June Evans moved here with her husband Gene in 1980 to help found New Covenant Church with a handful of local couples. Gene Evans pastored the church initially, and the couple lived here for 10 years before their ministry took them elsewhere.

Currently residing in the Atlanta area, the Evans’, both in their 80s, continue to travel all over the country with Meet the Believers Ministry. When not traveling, they attend and are members of Believers Church, Douglasville, a church the couple founded and is now under the pastoral leadership of their son.

“We just believe God’s not through with us yet, so here we are,” June Evans said. “I’ve done life with God for sixty-five years now, married for sixty. I have the experience of longevity.”

Evans will speak to the women’s gathering about “living your best life,” she said, and about “letting God handle your life.”

Beth Muldrew, one of the organizers of the event, said that all are invited and welcomed to the inter-denominational event.
