A man convicted of burglary in Florida, who was wanted by authorities there, was apprehended Friday after members of the Statesboro-Bulloch Crime Suppression Team discovered he was living in Statesboro.

Tevin White, 24, of Lanier Drive, is wanted in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, for violating probation after a burglary conviction, Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson said in a news release.

Crime Suppression Team members learned White was living in Eagle Heights Apartments, next to the Fast & Easy convenience store, and set up surveillance, the release says. When they spotted a man matching White's description, they took him into custody without incident, according to the release said.

"White's arrest highlights one of the missions of the Crime Suppression Team, namely the arrest of wanted persons who pose a danger to the safety of this community," Anderson said in the news release. White was "residing in an area which sees an uptick of burglaries this time of year."
