Statesboro's on-going Farmers’ Market will feature local produce Saturday in downtown. Throughout the spring and summer, area farmers have shared their produce at the Main Street Farmers’ Market in the parking lot of Sea Island Bank in downtown.

Now that the cool weather has arrived, so has the fall produce. Today's market will feature some of the area’s best mustard, turnip greens, peanuts, tomatoes, peas, butterbeans, okra, squash, peppers, beets, herbs, and sugar cane. The market runs from 9 a.m. to noon.

As a farming community with Statesboro at its hub, a downtown farmers’ market is a natural fit. In addition to produce, some of which is organic, the market features syrups, honey, cheeses, organic teas and condiments, whole grain breads, seasonally decorated cookies and cakes, cider, and many local crafts and plants.

Braswells is providing a chef who will feature produce from the market to whip up samples for market goers using Braswells condiments. With some local live music and a raffle of goodies from the market, it’s a pleasant way to spend the morning visiting with friends and neighbors and supporting our local farmers.
