An unidentified explosive left a Portal man’s mailbox in pieces last week, and now he is concerned that the culprit may target another mailbox. Robbie Deal said that an explosive device of some kind was placed in his mailbox, which was encased in brick and sat in front of his Metter Road home, around 9:10 p.m. on June 14. Deal reported the crime, and while the subsequent incident report from the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office listed some unspecified damage to the mailbox caused by an unknown person, it made no mention of an explosive.
