Four juveniles face charges of sexual exploitation of children after Candler County Sheriff’s investigators discovered evidence they exchanged explicit videos and images.

There is no evidence that an adult was involved, said Candler County Sheriff’s Capt. Justin Wells.

The investigation began two months ago when deputies received a tip, he said. “The complaint began when a student from the Candler County K-8 School Complex reported to school officials and law enforcement that possible explicit photographs were being sent around by students,” he said. “During the investigation, a number of digital devices were seized and searched.  Content was discovered on the devices during those searches that is considered a violation of Georgia law.”

Investigators arrested four juveniles Tuesday, two males and two females, between ages 13 and 16, Wells said. Each was charged with one count of   and charged sexual exploitation of children.  “The case will be turned over to the Department of Juvenile Justice and the Middle Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution,” he said.
