This weekend, Georgia Southern University, Main Street Statesboro and Averitt Center for the Arts are helping Bulloch County "go green."
Main Street Farmers' Market will be held Saturday morning in the parking lot of Sea Island Bank. According to Amanda Corley with Main Street Statesboro, fresh produce, baked good and crafts will be available at the market along with "interactive displays on how to live healthier for your planet."
Also going along with the sustainability idea Saturday is the Dracula Blood Drive sponored by the Averitt Center for the Arts from 12-6 p.m. to benefit the American Red Cross. The event will be held on Siebald Street next to the Averitt Center.
GSU is holding a Student Sustainability Summit Oct. 23-25 and will encourage students to reduce their environmental impact. The "think global, act local" event will give students the opporunity to create an environmental film or participate in community events like the Ogeechee River Cleanup Friday.
The GSU Student Sustainability Summit required preregistration, but the Farmers' Market and the Dracula Blood Drive are open to the public.
