County drug agents got more than they bargained for Friday when they seized drugs, cash, guns ... and a couple of alligators.
After two months of investigation, Bulloch County Drug Suppression Team members executed a search warrant at a Park Place Villas apartment and arrested two men, said Sgt. Brian Kingery.
Investigators confiscated a pound and a half of marijuana, about 10 grams of crack cocaine, an undisclosed amount of cash and two guns, he said.
They also took two alligators - each about a foot and a half long - into custody, he said.
According to Georgia law, it is illegal to possess wildlife without a permit. The two suspects, James Ronnie Mikell, 32, Park Place Villas, and John Henry Mikell Jr., 28, also of Park Place Villas, had no permit, Kingery said.
Each man was charged with marijuana possession with intent to distribute; cocaine possession with intent to distribute; possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and holding a game animal without a permit.
The men were taken to the Bulloch County Jail, where they remain without bond, according to jail records.
The alligators were turned over to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Kingery said.
