Two males robbed a food deliveryman early Monday morning, fleeing with cash after shoving him into a room in a vacant apartment.
Statesboro Public Safety Director Wendell Turner said Statesboro police officers responded to The Cove at Southern apartments around 12:30 a.m. Monday, where a Jimmy Johns deliveryman said an unknown man in a hoodie, which concealed his face, forced him inside.
“The apartment was dark and the victim said there was at least one other male inside the apartment,” he said. “The suspects took a quantity of currency from the victim, then shut the victim in a room in the apartment and left the scene.”
Afterward, the victim ran to a nearby apartment and had the residents call police. “Through further investigation and cooperation with property management, it was later discovered that the apartment was vacant,” Turner said.
Both suspects were males, with one described by the victim as a black male approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall. No weapons were used nor did suspects claimed to have weapons. No one was injured during the incident.
