The annual Cotton Pickin' Harvest Festival will feature costume contests, hay rides, a candy trail and other traditional festival food and games as well as adding trick or treating as part of the festivities.
The event, slated to begin at 5:30 p.m., Friday, at Mill Creek Park, will also feature the first bale of cotton auction by the Bulloch County Chamber of Commerce.
Children in three age groups (0-3, 4-6 and 7-12) will be eligible to compete in the Best Harvest Outfit and Best Halloween Costume contest and participate in a treasure hunt, fishing booth, fake tattoo and hair painting booths and sports games as well.
And children aren't the only ones encouraged to come dressed in a costume as Gateway Animal Hospital will be sponsoring a pet costume contest.
Meinhardt Vineyards will also be offering hay rides around the park for a small fee.
At nightfall, families can enjoy the showing of "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" followed by the summer hit "Monster House," rated PG.
The event is free and open to the public. It's sponsored by the Statesboro-Bulloch County Parks and Recreation Department, Rotary Club of Statesboro, Statesboro Convention and Visitors Bureau and Bulloch County Chamber of Commerce.
