Statesboro City Council is holding a special, called meeting at 11 a.m. Friday in its chambers at City Hall, with one voting item on the agenda plus a closed session for a step in the search for a new city manager.
The action item for open session is an alcoholic beverage open container exemption for Eagle Creek Brewing Company’s Spring Music Fest, 4-11 p.m. this Saturday in the brewpub’s parking lot. Fire Department and Public Works staff recommended approval on condition that Eagle Creek provide four crowd managers outside and one inside and keep sidewalks and two exits clear for a projected crowd of no more than 1,200 people, including just 83 allowed inside the building.
The closed session will be for discussion related to the city manager search, Mayor Jonathan McCollar confirmed. A team including a few local people chosen by the council has been conducting an assessment of selected applicants Thursday and Friday. But the mayor and council will interview finalists further before a decision, he said.
