W FRIDAY STREETs — Jenna Rackham fetches niece Gemma Rachham, 2, from the street before she gets too far away as the City of Statesboro celebrates the official opening of its new downtown Streetscape at First Friday.

A huge crowd filled downtown Statesboro Friday for the “Live, Work, Shop and Play” celebration. The event put the spotlight on the completed Streetscape project and all that downtown shops have to offer. A ribbon cutting was followed by a reception inside City Hall, where visitors watched a video of citizens remembering the past and looking to the future of the new downtown.
