Drugs, open containers of alcohol and a large amount of suspected drug money found during a traffic stop Saturday led to three arrests, police said.“The Statesboro Police Department arrested three subjects for multiple drug, firearm, and alcohol violations, and seized over $3,000 in suspected drug money from a traffic stop on South Main Street,” Statesboro Public Safety Director Wendell Turner said in a Tuesday news release.Officer Louis Parker stopped a speeding vehicle on South Main Street at approximately 3 a.m. Saturday and, after spotting evidence of criminal activity, called for assistance from Cpl. Andrew Samples and his K-9 partner, Bruno, Turner said.The vehicle was occupied by three men: Larone Omar Williams, 24, of Rabun Avenue in Statesboro; Chad Kendric Mobley, 19, of West Main Street in Statesboro; and Johnny James Wyman, 35, of North Grady Street in Claxton.Officers found “marijuana, hydrocodone, and multiple open alcohol containers during the stop,” and they seized a handgun as well as the cash, Turner said. Williams is charged with speeding, open container of alcohol, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and marijuana possession with intent to distribute.Mobley is charged with open container of alcohol, possession of schedule III narcotic and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.Wyman is charged with open container of alcohol and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
