Bulloch County sheriff's investigators are seeking information on a South Carolina man suspected in a burglary that occurred early Wednesday in far southeastern Bulloch County.

Deputies pursued the man they believe is Franklin Williams Jr., 26, of Beaufort, South Carolina, after he fled the scene, said Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson in a news release issued Wednesday. However, the suspect escaped capture.

Deputies responded to a commercial burglar alarm at a Bill Futch Road residence around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, and spotted a "blue Chevrolet Suburban pulling a trailer, leaving the area," Anderson said.

Deputy 1st Class Devon Deloach inspected the business, noting signs of forced entry, while Deputy Mac Edwards followed the Suburban. Both deputies then continued to pursue the vehicle, but the driver refused to stop, Anderson said.

Deputies kept up with the pursuit until the driver "crashed at the intersection of" Georgia highways 119 and 46, the sheriff said.

The driver fled on foot, and despite assistance from area K-9 units, was not found. The trailer, which was stolen, was returned to its owner, Anderson said.

Bulloch County sheriff's Investigator Jason Long developed evidence linking Williams as a suspect, and issued warrants for his arrest for felony theft by taking and various traffic charges, Anderson said.

Anyone with information on Williams' location is asked to call Long at (912) 764-1747 or submit information anonymously to tips@bullochsheriff.com.
