A man was charged with murder Thursday after sheriff’s investigators found a woman’s body in a Hendrix Circle home.
Eric Reid Harris, 54, told deputies his “live in girlfriend” whom he called “Lisa” was “deceased in the home,” said Bulloch County Sheriff Noel Brown.
Late Friday, Bulloch County Coroner Jake Futch identified the victim as Melissa Pughsley, 48.
Deputies went to the home around 8 p.m. Thursday after someone requested a welfare check, concerned about a woman “who was reported to have been killed by the person she was living with,” he said.
After Harris told deputies there was a deceased female in the home, they entered and found the body, he said. The body was sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab in Savannah and scheduled for an autopsy Friday. The woman’s identity has yet to be released, pending notification of relatives, Brown said.
Harris was booked into the Bulloch County Jail on charges of murder and concealing the death of another. He is being held without bond.
