An elderly woman's EBT card was stolen, and her caregiver was later caught on video using the card, police said.
Twila Ciara Cone, 25, of Julius Circle, is charged with five counts of financial transaction card fraud and one count each of financial transaction card theft and abuse, neglect or exploitation of the elderly or disabled, said Brooklet Police Chief Mike Buchan.
Cone is being held without bond in the Bulloch County Jail.
Monday, the victim filed a complaint, which led to Brooklet police locating Cone. Investigations produced evidence, including video footage, of Cone using the victim's EBT (electronic benefits transfer, or food stamps) card at three locations, he said.
Cone worked as a personal caregiver for the victim and took the EBT card while at the residence taking care of the victim, Buchan said.
When Brooklet police apprehended Cone, she was in the victim's driveway Monday, returning to work, the police chief said.
Cone was arrested on the felony charges and taken to the Bulloch County Jail, where she remains without bond, awaiting court hearings, Buchan said.
