Delete A nine-year-old Portal boy remains in critical condition after a single recreational vehicle accident Thursday morning, according to Georgia State Patrol reports.
Both GSP troopers and Bulloch County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the scene on Pleasant Hill Road near Poplar Springs Church Road near Portal around 11:20, after Bulloch Central 911 received a call about the accident.
The boy was riding in a back seat on a Kawasaki Mule, driven by his father, when he fell out of the vehicle and struck his head on the pavement, according to Georgia State Patrol Trooper First-Class Eric Wilkes.
At least one other child was in the front of the Mule, and no others were injured. Details about the child’s fall were unavailable late Thursday.
The child was airlifted to Memorial Health Medical Center in Savannah, where he remained in an intensive care unit Thursday evening, Wilkes said.
Friends and members of the community held a special prayer meeting Thursday night at 7 p.m. for the child and his family, according to reports from friends of the family.
