Statesboro police, working in conjunction with a federal agency, arrested a local man Friday on charges of sexual exploitation of children.
Jason Allen Scott, 26, Chandler Road, was taken into custody after agents with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) notified Statesboro police of his alleged crimes, said Statesboro Police Cpl. Justin Samples.
Since the case remains under dual investigation by the Statesboro Police Department and ICAC, no further details of Scott’s arrest were provided, except that further charges are possible.
According to Internet website www.icactaskforce.org, the agency was “created to help federal, state and local law enforcement agencies enhance their investigative responses to offenders who use the Internet, online communication systems, or computer technology to sexually exploit children.”
The program, funded by the United States Department of Justice, “is a national network of 61 coordinated task forces representing over 3,000 federal, state, and local law enforcement and prosecutorial agencies. These agencies are engaged in proactive investigations, forensic investigations, and criminal prosecutions.
Scott was taken to the Bulloch County Jail, where he remains without bond.
