Boro businessman dies in wreck

A Statesboro businessman was killed Saturday in a single-vehicle accident on Kennedy Bridge Road in Register. James Kenneth Kenny Ellis, 60, of Williams Road in Hopeulikit, was pronounced dead at the scene after his car ran off the road and struck a tree around 3:15 p.m. Saturday, according to a report by Georgia State Patrol Trooper 1st Class Trey Miller. Ellis was traveling south on Kennedy Bridge Road when his vehicle went off the road on the west shoulder, then struck the tree, the report states.
