Board to announce superintendent candidate

    During a special called meeting tonight, Bulloch County Board of Education members expect to vote to appoint one of three candidates for the county school superintendent position.
     "We hope to appoint a new school superintendent for Bulloch County" at tonight's meeting, BOE Chairman David Ball said Wednesday.
    Current superintendent Dr. Jessie Strickland resigned effective June 30, and she recently took a position with Ogeechee Technical College.
    The three candidates vying for the job are Dr. Michael Scott Winstead, Knoxville, TN, Director of Curriculum and Accountability for Knox County Schools;  Dr. Jose Gilberto Boza, Athens, Executive Director of Instructional Services for the Clarke County School District; and Dr. Lewis Dale Holloway Jr., Athens, Clarke County School Superintendent.
    The board will meet tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the Bulloch County Board of Education Central Office for the purpose of making a personnel recommendation, according to information from the BOE Central Office. The meeting is open to the public, Ball said.
    At a meeting held May 24, board members said they would announce a decision regarding the candidates for the Bulloch County school superintendent by June 7 – today.
