Authentic New Orleans Dixieland Jazz will take over the Averitt Center for the Arts Saturday night.
The Beer Parlor Ramblers from the historic Crystal Beer Parlor in Savannah will play in the Emma Kelly Theater at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Tickets for the show are $10 per person.
The 75-year-old restaurant, the second oldest in Savannah, first opened its doors in 1933. Today, the old-fashioned Crystal Beer Parlor still takes guests on a trip back in time.
The Beer Parlor Ramblers first performed at the local pub in December 2003. Featuring William J. “Buddy” Kosic on drums, Christian Flores on the tuba, Willie Hammet blowing down the trumpet, Jon Miller on trombone, Sandra Embly playing piano, and Royce Johnson wailing on the clarinet, flute, saxophone and plucking away on the banjo. The Ramblers are known for their unique style of Dixieland music blended with a touch of humor.
The group has entertained thousands of locals and visitors alike at the famed restaurant. Aside from their weekly gig, the Beer Parlor Ramblers have been played in concert at Savannah’s Coastal Jazz Society, the Savannah Jazz Festival, and they recently entertained St. Patrick’s Day revelers aboard the Savannah Music Festival float.
