Statesboro Police are seeking a man they said beat a woman to the point of breaking facial bones, then held her against her will.
The victim awoke and heard noises last Friday around 11:30 p.m., and when she investigated,  found Reliford Lee III, 31, last known address of Mikell Street, in her Johnson Street home without permission.
Lee punched the victim in the face, breaking her orbital bone (around the eye). When he struck her, the woman became unconscious, and he dragged her into a bedroom, where he further struck her several times, leaving abrasions and bruises, said Statesboro Public Safety Director Wendell Turner.
Lee refused to allow the woman to leave, but eventually he fell asleep and she escaped, he said. The victim drove to the Statesboro Police Department, where she met with Officer Mary Bowen, and gave details about her ordeal, he said. The woman was taken to the hospital afterward for treatment of her injuries.
“Anyone with information about Reliford Lee’s whereabouts is asked to contact Det. Keith Holloway with the Statesboro Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division at 912-764-1542,” Turner said.
Tips may also be submitted online at www.crimereports.com. Information that is provided will be held in strict confidence, he said.
