Bulloch County’s barns – some on farms remaining in families
for generations, others with recently rediscovered pasts – will be the stars of
the Bulloch County Historical Society’s annual meeting, 6 p.m. Monday, June 24.
“The Art and Science of Preserving Bulloch County’s Historic Barns” will be the program over dinner in the Pittman Park United Methodist Church fellowship hall. Historical Society members began exploring the topic nearly two years ago and invited input from barn owners.
This presentation will feature photography by “the Barn Hunter” Cal Avery and will also highlight the use of scanning technology by the Department of Civil Engineering and Construction at Georgia Southern University.
Dinner by Honey Catering will begin with strawberry spinach salad with berry vinaigrette and conclude with turtle cheesecake. The price of dinner and the program is $25 per person, with reservations requested by June 17 by mailing a check payable to BCHS to the Bulloch County Historical Society; 315 Savannah Ave.; Statesboro, GA 30458.
The society asks that the names of all persons attending be listed on each check so that name tags can be prepared. For more information, call (912) 682-9003.
