The woman discovered inside a trailer in Oak Hill Mobile Home Park by deputies Sunday was the victim of a homicide, according to the medical examiner.
Joylee Ann Brown, 39, Eastview Apartments in Statesboro, was identified as the victim, and her family members have been contacted. Further information will be released as the case progresses, Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson said in a news release issued Tuesday morning.
Deputies were dispatch to Oak Hill, in the 25000 block of U.S. Highway 301 North, at 12:35 a.m. Sunday after a resident reported an open door at a neighboring mobile home, Anderson said Monday.
Upon arrival, patrol deputies discovered Brown's body inside the trailer. Investigators and crime scene techs responded to the location and spent more than 12 hours processing the scene for evidence, Anderson said.
Brown was transported to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's Coastal Regional Crime Lab for an autopsy Monday.
The sheriff added that investigators are actively seeking information on this case and encourage the public to call in or email confidential tips. Callers should speak with sheriff's Investigator Walter Deal at (912) 764-1788 or email an anonymous tip to tips@bullochsheriff.com.
