A man sitting at home in his car was robbed at gunpoint early Thursday morning, police said.

The Gentilly Drive victim handed over cash, a cellphone and financial transaction cards, Statesboro Public Safety Director Wendell Turner said.

Around 12:15 a.m., Statesboro Police Department responded to Gentilly Drive, where the 911 call indicated two black males approached the victim's vehicle on foot, showed a gun and demanded cash and other items of value. However, the victim was not at the scene when police arrived.

"The complaint was called into 911 by an acquaintance of the victim (but) police were able to make contact with the victim two hours later at the Statesboro Police Department," Turner said. "The victim told officers that he recognized the offenders but could not identify them by name. There were no reported injuries."

Anyone with information concerning this case is asked to contact Statesboro Police Detective Kevin Weatherly at (912) 764-9911.

Information may be submitted to www.tipsoft.com or by a text message starting with "TIPSSPD" to 274637 (CRIMES). All information is strictly confidential, Turner said.
