Statesboro Police hope someone will recognize an armed robbery suspect from a surveillance photo although the man is wearing a mask.
Statesboro Police Det. Keith Holloway said possibly someone could recognize the clothing of a man he said robbed a U.S. 301 South convenience store early Friday morning.
Statesboro Police officers responded to a call around 3 a.m. Friday to Clyde's Market #48, at the intersection of U.S. 301 South and Veteran's Memorial Parkway, said Statesboro Police Chief Stan York.
The victim, a store clerk, told detectives she was mopping the floor when the man entered. Store video shows him wearing dark blue jeans, a black shirt and a white tee shirt underneath, as well as a red mask over his face.
The man was holding his hand underneath his clothing as if he had a gun, according to police incident reports.
He demanded money and the clerk opened the register, from which the offender grabbed about $250, according to reports.
He fled the store, and responding officers were unable to locate anyone fitting his description in the area, York said.
The clerk described the man as a black male, abut 5'10" to 6', with a slim build.
No one was injured during the robbery, York said.
Anyone with information regarding the robbery or who may recognize the suspect from the photo is asked to contact Holloway at (912) 764-1542 or (912) 212-2306.
