A collection of local restaurateurs met with Statesboro’s elected officials Tuesday to formally outline the group’s grievances with the city’s current alcohol ordinance. City Hall’s council chambers hosted the scheduled work session, where, together, councilmen and owners examined the legislation and took a first step toward reforming Statesboro’s oft-criticized alcohol laws. “We want to do all we can to make the ordinance simple, easy to understand and enforceable,” said Mayor Joe Brannen, who referenced the State of Georgia’s less-restrictive alcohol law as a possible guide.
