Police arrested two more suspects in a recent armed robbery, said Statesboro Police Chief Stan York.
Lorenzo Ontario Hagins, 20, Lanier Drive, and a 16-year-old male juvenile, were each arrested Tuesday in connection to an armed robbery that took place Wednesday, Sept. 23, at University Pines Apartments, he said.
Last week, officers apprehended 17-year-old Zackery Allen Durrence, of Bream Road, Statesboro, and Malcolm Jamal Gainey, 17, Hilltop Circle, Mableton, a short time after the robbery.
The male robbery victim told police he was in the University Pines Apartments area around 10:30 p.m. that night when four men approached him and asked for a cigarette. Then, one man pointed a gun at his head while the other three struck him and went through his pockets, he said.
The victim was not seriously injured, he said.
Both Durrence and Gainey were charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, battery and obstruction of officers. Hagins was charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, battery and giving false information to law enforcement officers. All three adult suspects were taken to the Bulloch County Jail.
The juvenile was taken to a regional youth detention center. All suspects "are facing further judicial acton," York said. "The investigation continues. Anyone with information regarding this incident in encouraged to call Det. Ken Scott at the Statesboro Police Department (764-1542). All calls will remain confidential."
While at this time police have not yet linked the suspects to other armed robberies in the area, it is possible they could be related, as the same method of robbery was used in other cases.
Police are also investigating robberies that took place Saturday: around 1:50 a.m., a Don Corleone's pizza delivery man was taking an order of pizza, wings and a two-liter drink to a customer when he was approached by two men near Park Place Apartments, according to police reports.
One pulled a gun and demanded money. The two took $50 cash, as well as the food the man was trying to deliver. The victim was unharmed, said Statesboro Police Capt. Scott Brunson.
A short time later, police responded to The Exchange Apartments on Stambuk Lane, around 2:40 a.m. Saturday. There, a man told them two men held him at gunpoint and stole his wallet, containing $230, and a cell phone.
These cases are under investigation as well, York said.
