Two men caught with a variety of illegal drugs were arrested after an officer smelled marijuana in the suspects' car and called for assistance from a K-9 officer. Around 8:30 p.m. April 2, Statesboro-Bulloch County Drug Suppression Team Deputy 1st Class Randall Norman stopped a vehicle on Highway 301 South for an equipment violation and "smelled an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle," said Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson. The driver, Joseph Mathis, 22, of Jackson Road, and a passenger, Link Ridgeway, 43, of Abercorn Avenue in Atlanta, were taken into custody after a K-9 unit "alerted on the vehicle and a subsequent search revealed several separate types of illegal drugs," Anderson said.
