Two were killed late Sunday night when a driver lost control of his vehicle and slammed into the rear of a parked tractor trailer rig, authorities said.
Bulloch County Coroner Jake Futch said James Franklin Reed, 44, of Harvey Drive, and Tawanna Michelle Cone, 41, of Joyce Street, were killed around 11:25 p.m. Sunday on Burkhalter Road near Hightower Road.
According to Georgia State Patrol Reports,  Reed was southbound on Burkhalter Road when he lost control of his car. He traveled onto the shoulder, overcorrected, rotated across both lanes of the road and collided with the tractor trailer, which was stationary.
Futch said the rig is routinely parked along the road in front of its owner’s residence.
The car’s side struck the truck with its side, he said. Both Reed and Cone were pronounced dead at the scene.
