Two Atlanta residents were arrested on heroin trafficking charges Saturday after the Statesboro-Bulloch Crime Suppression Team conducted a narcotics investigation.

Investigators with the CST responded Saturday to a unit in Park Place Apartments, in the 200 block of Lanier Drive, after receiving information that "a large amount of marijuana was being transported to that location from Atlanta," Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson said Monday in a news release.

A man and a woman arrived at 10 p.m. at the apartment to deliver the heroin, Anderson said.

When investigators tried to take the man, later identified as Damonta Anderson, 25, of Greens Ferry Road in Atlanta, into custody, he tried to flee on foot and was subdued with a Taser stun gun, the sheriff said.

The woman, later identified as Mikeon Briddy, 23, of McDaniel Street in Atlanta, was taken into custody without incident.

Both Anderson and Briddy were taken to the Bulloch County Jail, where they are being held without bond pending a hearing in Bulloch County Superior Court.

Anderson was charged with trafficking in heroin and obstruction. Briddy was charged with trafficking in heroin.
