Bulloch County Sheriff’s investigators charged two Rincon brothers with burglary in connection with several incidents in Stilson and Nevils.
Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson said investigators have been looking into the burglaries since Oct. 12, and each incident involved thefts of large amounts of jewelry.
“Various factors linked the burglaries together, and they were turned over to our criminal investigations division,” he said.
In early November, investigators received information from Savannah Chatham Metro Police that two men, Joseph Lee Brant, 35, Rincon, and Edward Keith Brant, 31, also of Rincon, “had disposed of large amounts of property in Chatham County,” he said. Further investigation linked the Brants to the six Bulloch County burglaries, which involved the jewelry thefts, he said.
After warrants were issued, agents with the United States Marshals Service Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force located both men in Effingham County and placed them under arrest. They were taken to Effingham County Jail, where deputies there charged them with burglary for incidents in that county.
Anderson said each man was charged with six counts of burglary in Bulloch County.
“As both Bulloch and Effingham counties are located in the Ogeechee Judicial Circuit, the cases will be prosecuted by district attorneys from that circuit,” he said. “I’d like to thank the Savannah Chatham Metro Police, the United States Marshals Service Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, and the Effingham County Sheriff’s office for their assistance in closing these cases.”
